Rather a person should look at how much fat they are carrying around. When a person has excessive fat they could suffer from many circulatory issues On the other end, a person without enough fat will also put their body at risk. It does not matter if a person is to fat or does not have enough fat, neither is healthy and needs to be addressed. It is a number that everyone who is trying to get healthy should take the time to know.
It is possible to measure your body fat in a variety of ways. There are many health professionals who can assist a person in this. It is also possible for a person to do it by themselves. For most people their body fat percentage should be around 5% of your mass. A person who is really concerned with their fitness might want a smaller number than that to feel comfortable. Anything below 3% is generally unhealthy. Too low a body fat percentage can be very dangerous.
A person should not try to lose all of their fat at once, but rather should break it down to manageable portions. It is not as easy to figure out what you want to accomplish with your fat percentage as it is with how many pounds you want to lose. The best place to turn is to a fitness professional. The problem is that, if you are exercising, you will gain muscle mass at the same time as you lose fat. The added muscle make the use of body fat percentage more difficult.
