Corporate Change: How To Utilize Staffing Firms And Reducing Costs In The Long Run
An alternative that a lot of businesses are looking into so they could meet their staffing needs for corporate change is to resort to staffing firms. Staffing firms provide organizations with manpower, specific to their needs, in a quick and efficient manner. But even though this is a great way of meeting staffing needs it does have disadvantages too.
One of the dangers in using a staffing firm to meet corporate change needs is that the temporary staff can create resentment and fear among the regular employees. If the temporary staffer is highly motivated and very effective, it can lead people to believe that they will be replaced by them. If used properly, though, these temporary staffers can provide a corporate change project with focus.
One objection to using external staffing is that it can be expensive. But in return, they get to have a worker whose skills match the job position they're looking for, without the extra hassles of searching for and interviewing the perfect candidate. Searching for a permanent staffer who is uniquely qualified could also cost a lot of money after all.
Organizations are paying for a reduction in risk. The temporary staffer is taking on a higher level of risk because their performance requirements are very high. Moreover, they can be replaced with ease. The employer is paying for that reduction in risk.
There are a couple of things that the management has the tendency to do that increase the costs of external staffing. One is to hire an external staffer during emergencies. These situations are inherently disorganized and inefficient. This means the temporary staffer’s job will be harder and take longer, which drives up the final costs. One other thing that employers do is to invest a bunch of money into hiring a staffer who is overskilled to meet a certain need. Overskilling can mean the job absolutely will be done on time, but the price goes up for the extra skills. The best solution to prevent this from happening is for the employers to know exactly the required skills for the job and hire accordingly. This can prevent external staffing costs from rising too high, and can lead to successful corporate change.
